DERMAL FILLERS TREATMENT

Dermal fillers are a non-surgical injection treatment used for sculpting and reforming the facial contours by increasing the volume in flattened, deflated and wrinkled areas particularly in the bottom two thirds of the face.

In our clinic you will always be carefully asessed and treated according to your individual requirements, always by one of our experienced resident doctors, so you can rest assured you are in Safe Hands . You will also have the opportunity to discuss all the treatment options in great detail with your treating practitioner, who will advise you on the best treatment approach.

The medications we use for this purpose come from Juvederm, Hydrafill and Restylane ranges which are, unlike old collagen based fillers, not based on animal products and hence they carry no risk of allergy. These fillers contain Non-Animal Stabilised Hyalouronic Acid gel (NASHA) which is a substance that naturally exists in our skin and it works by carrying and binding water and thereby achieving plumper contours. We use these products in preference to others available on the market because they offer safety and flexibility required to achieve the best cosmetic result for our patients and avoid the issues of granulation sometimes seen with some other dermal fillers. This treatment is long lasting and its effects immediate, it’s perfect for very fine cosmetic work and ultimately can be removed if the desired results are not achieved.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING AND AFTER THE TREATMENT?
A. Treatment with dermal fillers usually lasts for up to 30 minutes depending on the area injected. You will require an application of topical anaesthetic cream or an injection of local anaesthetic half an hour before treatment in order to anaesthetize the area.
When performed by an expert, this treatment is safe and results are immediate. Following the treatment you may also experience very mild swelling and tenderness in the treatment areas, all of which are temporary and resolve in 24-48 hours.
All our treatments include detailed instructions on aftercare as well as ongoing support by our medical staff should you have any questions or concerns.

Q. HOW LONG WILL DERMAL FILLERS LAST?
A. This depends on the patient and exact type of filler used, but usually 6-12 months. After this time you will require a top-up injection to maintain optimal result. Should you choose not to have maintenance injections, the filler will be slowly and completely absorbed by your body and your skin will return to its original appearance.

Q. ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
A. Since this is a non-collagen and non-animal product, the likelihood of allergy is virtually none. If the transient side effects of mild reddness, swelling and bruising at the injection site occur, they resolve within 1-2 days.

Q. CAN DERMAL FILLERS BE USED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?
A. Yes, in fact they are ideal to be used in combination with Botox ®, chemical peels, cosmoceuticals and IPL and Laser treatments, within 1 - 2 weeks of the injections.
