Many people now suffer from premature skin ageing largely due to sun-damage and other lifesyle factors. The sun damage often results in dull, rough skin, whith enlarged pores, lines and wrinkles. Mottled skin tone and areas of abnormal pigmentation, along with vascular irregularities such as telangiectasias, are also common.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Laser systems can address the aspects of premature ageing outlined above due to their ability to promote fibroblast activity and subtly restructure collagen within the skin. In addition, specific lesions such as thread veins, age spots and freckles can be targeted resulting in a more uniform complexion. The skin becomes more radiant and enlarged pores are reduced.

We combine the following modalities to administer Combination Facial Therapy (CFT) skin rejuvenation:

- Lumina 585plus nm IPL treats telangiectasia and pigmentary irregularities aiming for general improvement to skin tone and texture (including enlarged pores, fine lines and mild acne scarring).

- Lumina 650 nm IPL treats fine lines, enlarged pores, pigmentation problems and poor skin texture. It is highly recommended to combine this stage of the treatment with a suitable chemical peel for maximum benefit.

- long-pulse ND:YAG Laser is often a treatment of choice when mild to moderate wrinkling, enlarged pores and mild skin laxity is present. It can be carried out as a stand-alone treatment, or post 585plus and 650 nm IPL treatments, to target specific areas of concern such as deepe wrinkles to the forehead or around the eyes.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. HOW IS THIS TREATMENT CARRIED OUT?
A. The skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared for the procedure using a mild peel. Exfoliating the skin to remove the top layers of dead skin leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft while allowing full penetration of the light treatment thus achieving optimal results.
The laser or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released to the treatment area. The applicator is then moved to the adjacent area of the skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated.
For IPL treatment a thin layer of chilled gel is applied to help guide the light, but this is not required for a Laser procedure.
During treatment, protective eyewear will be provided.

Q. AM I SUITABLE FOR TREATMENT?
A. This treatment is suitable for most people, except for dark skinned or tanned individuals.

Q. HOW DOES THE TREATMENT FEEL?
A. Treatment is mildly uncomfortable and there is usually no need for anaesthesia. Sensation varies but is often described "not unlike a quick pin prick".

Q. ARE THERE ANT SIDE EFFECTS?
A. The skin may be quite red and slightly swollen after the procedure but this usually quickly subsides. Very rarely a small blister may form and there can be temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. However, most people experience no side effects and any skin reaction usually disappears within a few hours.

Q. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
A. Redness and a slight warming sensation are normal after the treatment. A cooling pack is applied after treatment to calm the skin. You may see a darkening of any pigmented spots before they flake off, leading to a more even skin tone.Tightening of the skin hould increase over the following months as new collagen is produced within the dermis.

Q. HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
A. A full facial treatment, including a skin peel, usually takes about 45 minutes.

Q. HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?
A. Treatments are carried out every 4 weeks and 6 treatments are recommended for best results. Thereafter, top-up sessions are performed as required, but typically once or twice a year.

Q. WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A CONSULTATION?
A. Prior to the treatment, a consultation is conducted in which a medical history and examination are performed to confirm suitability for treatment. You will also have the opportunity for any questions you may have to be answered by your treating doctor.
Before the treatment commences you will be asked to provide written consent for the procedure and a small test patch will be carried out in order to tailor the treatment to your individual needs.
